I have not researched my system on SP500 in as much depth as I have researched it for the major FX pairs. Hence I am less confident trading the SP500. When I get time in the future I will do a deep study of the SP500.

For now I think I shall stay out unless I get a clear, strong system signal or unless UJ collapses and I have to hedge. Which is a possibility if SP500 collapses, the correlation is very tight.

I’m not feeling comfortable with how EURUSD is behaving, so I have cut my loss and got out of the short trade.

This morning my system gave a short signal in EURUSD and I exited my EU long at 1.3762. I didn’t flip since I already have an $8/pip short at an average of 1.3668. For a moment, I contemplated adding to my short, but decided against it on the grounds that it would make my EU exposure too large. Good risk management discipline.

Since then EU has fallen almost 150 pips today. I wish I had added to my shorts. But then I remind myself to be patient and focus on the trade, not the money. As long as I trade well, the money will add up. This is a difficult discipline to master, I can attest to it. But my goal is long-term consistent profits, so I’ll stick to my discipline and trade well.

Markets are quiet as expected. But the AUD is moving, the retail crowd is betting on a rebound. Since the Euro is weak, that translates into a strong move in EURAUD down. I have therefore gone short as follows:

Short $5/pip EURAUD at 1.5296, SL around 1.5385.

This also serves as a good hedge against my AUD short. The trick will be to get out at the right level, and hope the Aussie doesn’t do it’s beach-ball trick!
